Report Cards

You should have found your child's report card in his/her green folder. Please be sure to celebrate successes and set new goals for the upcoming nine weeks.  You may keep your child's report card and test scores found in the cover at home.  Don't forget to sign and return the cover in your child's green folder on Monday.

Upcoming Tests/Quizzes

Students will take their second explorers test on Tuesday, November 1st.  Study buddies were placed in the Social Studies Google Classroom last week.

We will have our Metric Unit Conversion Test on Wednesday, November 2nd.  Students were given a review sheet in class on Friday.  We also completed all of the problems in class together. ALERT students were given their review sheet when they came back to class and were instructed to complete it over the weekend so we could go over it in class on Monday.

Students will have their 0-5 timed multiplication test, Thursday, November 3rd.  There are websites in our Math Google Classroom students may use at home to help them study.  Just a reminder, there will be 40 problems and students will have two minutes to complete the timed test.

4th Grade Performance

Just a reminder that our 4th grade performance will be held this Thursday, November 3rd at 6:30. Please be sure to check with your child to see what kind of costume he/she will need for this performance.  If you have any questions, you may contact our music teacher, Gray Hansberry, at ghansberry@richland2.org.

Brattonville Field Trip

Be sure to head over to our Photo Gallery to check out our Brattonville Field Trip!

Colonial Day

On November 22nd we will have Colonial Day.  This will tie in with our Colonial Times unit of study. Students will be required to dress up as if they were living during this time period.  Below are some images to give you an idea of what this looked like. We will also need several parent volunteers for this event. Please be on the look out for more information about this event as we get closer to the date.

Types of Clouds Video Presentations

After studying the different types of clouds I wanted students to show off what they learned in a very creative way. Their task was to create a video!  Students were placed in groups and they had to write a script for their video.  After that they practiced their script they recorded their video using a green screen.  I was very impressed with their work.  I can't wait for their next green screen video.  A special thank you to our technology coach, Angela Black, for helping us with this task!

Andrea, Evan, Claire, and Eli - Claire and Eli are camera shy!

Nathan, Tyler, Brett, and Abby

Imani, Jackson, Abigail, and Mitchell

Arianna, Keanu, Nate

Don't you think they all did a great job?!  I'm already planning our next video!

Explorers Unit of Study

This week in social studies we will begin our unit of study on explorers.  I will be doing something a little different with the students.  This will be a blended learning unit.  Blended learning is when a student learns at least in part through delivery of content and instruction via digital and online media with some element of student control over time, place, path, or pace.  I will provide students with a list of assignments they must complete.  Some of these assignments will be videos that I have created to delivery the content to the students.  Other assignments will be activities to enhance the instruction.  Students will be able to complete these activities at their own pace.  This week students will learn about Leif Eriksson, Christopher Columbus, and Ferdinand Magellan.   Please ask your child to share this assignment with this week!  It will be in their social studies Google Classroom.

Math Test

We have just completed our first unit in math.  Students will be tested on Thursday, October 6th.  Students were given their "study buddy" last week.  If you find that your child is struggling with some of the skills on the study buddy, please let me know.  We will be reviewing this week for this assessment.  The following skills will be covered:  comparing and ordering numbers, rounding, writing numbers in expanded and word form, adding and subtracting multi-digit numbers, and word problems.

Multiplication Timed Test

Students will have their first timed multiplication test this week! Students should be studying their 0-3 facts.  If you have not purchased flash cards for your child, students can make their own using index cards.   Below are several websites students may use at home to practice their facts.
